A very personal project I started in 2015. For this I will share both the product, and the process behind it. Working on it took me on my own journey of growth, and I'm all about telling stories.
Realest is an ethnography of Black Culture, primarily in America. It is a celebration of diversity, and my humble attempt to create a database through photography and design.
This project manifests as a limited edition quarterly-photo journal. A publication that is part coffee-table book, part magazine – narrated in first person perspective.
Realest Volume 1 focuses on hip hop. I spent 17 months researching, living with people (mostly strangers) for 24 hours and experiencing their every day life. Subjects are influential people in the industry/culture. Ranging from rappers to managers, directors, designers, producers, tastemakers and more. Most importantly, I only follow(ed) people with good energy.
